SmartLaw is the Lawyer Referral Service of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. It is a non-profit public service that allows members of the public to find a qualified lawyer in Southern California and get general information about legal issues. There is no cost to access information through SmartLaw and no cost to get referred to a lawyer through SmartLaw.
The LRS is certified by the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association.

ABOUT LRIS
The purpose of the Mexican American Bar Association Lawyer Referral & Information Service (“LRIS”) is to:
(A) provide a way by which any person may be referred to a qualified, insured lawyer who is able and interested in rendering needed legal services;
(B) provide general information about lawyers and the availability of legal services that will aid in the selection of a lawyer who has the required experience in a particular field of law;
(C) provide referrals to consumer, government, and other agencies when appropriate;
(D) provide referrals to attorneys, taking into consideration the type and complexity of the legal problem presented, as well as a person’s financial circumstances, spoken language, geographical convenience and other requirements, pursuant to State Bar of California Rule 3.826;
(E) provide a public service for the benefit of the public; and to
(F) ensure that no person shall be deprived of the right to be referred to an attorney on the basis of race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, military and veteran status.
The MABA LRIS program is certified by the State Bar of California through the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
