Committed to the Advancement of Latinos in the Legal Profession and the Empowerment of the Latino Community Through Service and Advocacy |
STUDENT ResourcesMABA’s Student Outreach ProgramThe Mexican American Bar Association (“MABA”) is a professional organization whose mission is to empower the Latino community. Our membership is comprised of law students, attorneys, mediators, judges, and others in the legal community in Los Angeles County. MABA organizes several events to carry out its mission including Community Legal Fairs and visits to Los Angeles County schools and youth organizations. The goal of MABA’s Student Outreach Program is to expose young people to Latino and diverse law students, attorneys, and judges who can share personal stories that resonate with students from diverse backgrounds. We hope that by sharing our stories, we can inspire students of all ages to pursue higher education and consider a career in law. Since 2015, MABA’s Student Outreach Program has reached over 1,000 students at over a dozen schools and youth organizations throughout Los Angeles. If you would like MABA members to present to your classroom or program to share their professional and academic trajectories, please email president@mabaattorneys.com with the subject “Student Outreach Program.” Please include the possible date(s) for the presentation, the number of speakers requested, and the location of the presentation. While we will make every effort to accommodate requests, but cannot guarantee speakers for presentations requested on short notice. MABA's Michael Felix High School Scholarship FundAbout the Program: In 2015, MABA launched its High School Scholarship Program thanks to the financial support of MABA Past-President Erick Solares. In 2025, the scholarship was renamed the Michael Felix High School Scholarship Program in honor of Michael Felix’s leadership’s long lasting impact on this program. The Program seeks to assist Los Angeles-area college-bound students with college-related expenses. Each spring, MABA awards at least three $2,500 scholarships to talented college-bound students. Additional scholarships may be awarded, subject to the availability of contributions to the Program. The scholarship is available to high school seniors enrolled in the schools and programs that participate in MABA’s Student Outreach Program in the prior year. In awarding the scholarship, MABA considers each applicant’s financial need, community service, leadership experience, and any hardship experienced in pursuit of his/her/their education. Because MABA is firmly committed to the empowerment of the Latino community, all students, regardless of immigration status are eligible to apply. MABA's High School Scholarship Program is completely funded by the generous financial donations of MABA members.
